Terms of Use

This agreement form constitutes a working agreement between the National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC) and the User pertaining to access and use of restricted-access resources within the digital library collections of CALiO™. The NCAC provides these resources to authorized users to promote the multidisciplinary coordinated response to child abuse and neglect and enhance professional development.

I. Creating an Account
  1. You are eligible for a CALiO™ user account if you are part of one of the following entities:
    • Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC) or CAC multidisciplinary team (MDT)
    • CAC State Chapter
    • Victims of Child Abuse Act Partnership
  2. Account activation requires approval by CALiO™.
  3. Users will be required to update their account and password annually.
II. Use and dissemination of restricted access resources found in CALiO™.

The National Children’s Advocacy Center (NCAC), on behalf of CALiO™, subscribes to electronic journals, books, databases, and other materials for use by authorized users. The terms and conditions for using these resources are set out in electronic resource license agreements that the NCAC signs with each publisher and include users’ strict adherence to not sharing resources with non-authorized users.

Breaches of these contractual arrangements with publishers could result in the suspension of access to the resources for the entire CALiO™ community and legal liability for the NCAC or its users. It is the responsibility of individual authorized users to ensure that their use of these electronic resources does not breach the terms and conditions specified in the license agreements. Questions concerning these terms may be addressed to calio@nationalcac.org

Lastly, restricted-access resources, such as journal articles in PDF or HTML format, are subject to U.S. copyright laws. Electronic distribution of these resources beyond the library user community (i.e., registered users) via any means of electronic distribution or posting on websites can violate copyright laws. By registering to access CALiO™ restricted subscription content, the User agrees to follow these laws.
